Search Committee: Trustee Browne passed around a list of libraries to visit with dates, asking for a commitment from board members to attend one or more visits.
Trustee Antkoviak had suggested previously to having a Saturday morning special meeting for the purpose of formulating the search plan of action. November 23rd was chosen for the special meeting starting from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Trustee Hellmann volunteered to bring refreshments. This will be an open meeting. Trustee Browne laid out several items to be considered at this meeting. Discussion followed. President Kiella will defer all questions to Trustee Browne regarding the search committee and progress.
The second part of this special meeting agenda will be the consideration of the roles and positions of the library staff and how they might be realigned for the future of the library.
Trustee Browne put forth the idea of using a consultant in the search process. Director Perrigo said a consultant could be helpful in finding desirable candidates. Several trustees were not in favor of using a consultant. The board as a whole was unsure on this subject with the exception of Trustee Watts.
In light of all the discussion, President Kiella formed the Allegan Library Special Search Committee, effective immediately, and asked Trustee Browne to lead the committee. She accepted. She was commissioned to:
• report to the committee as a whole
• call meetings (first meeting is November 23rd)
• give progress reports during regular monthly board meetings under Old Business
• set the scope of the committee and financial concerns, and
• role of consultants if any.
There was no new business.
