The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on November 27, 2007. President Shawn Gavan called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present were Director Ann Perrigo, Trustees Shawn Gavan, Billi Williams, Hollis Hough, Nancy Ingalsbee, and Susan Jerkatis. A City Representative will be appointed in January.

Minutes from the October Board meeting were approved upon a motion made by Trustee Ingalsbee and seconded by Trustee Williams.

The financial reports were reviewed, and upon a motion made by Trustee Jerkatis, seconded by Trustee Ingallsbee, the bills presented by Director Perrigo were approved for payment. The financial and statistical reports were also given at this time. Special note is given that the property taxes show a discrepancy from last month’s report.

Old business:

Friends Committee: The update from the Friends committee was read. The Identity Theft Program was poorly attended. Recycled books will be given to Sylvia’s Place.

District Issue: A meeting with the attorney was held. The committee was given an idea of what decisions need to be made. Progress is being made.

Building Maintenance:

• To do the work room and office separately will be more expensive.

• An asbestos audit to be done on the flooring.

• Air conditioner is on back-order from China. Upon arrival, it will be installed.

• HVAC estimates—A motion was made by Trustee Ingalsbee and seconded by Trustee Williams, pending approval from the fund balance by the city, for the Suburban bid.

• An energy subcommittee is formed with Trustees Gavan, Ingalsbee, and Alan Smith representing the library.

Library Goals:

1. Homebound Services—Trustee Ingalsbee will contact the Flashes, Hometown Gazette, and Allegan County News, and Trustee Jerkatis will make a promotional

flyer.

2. QSAC—Finished certification at the Essential Level of the Quality Service Audit Checklist

Bookletters: Director Perrigo gave us a demonstration.

New Business:

Letter from Asst. City Manager Dave Sperry about the DDA meeting on December 26, 2007 at 7:45 p.m. at the Griswold.

Public Comment:

There was no public comment.

Librarian’s Report:

1. The State Aid Report is due February 1, 2008.

2. Director Perrigo attended the SMLC Directors’ Meeting.

3. Director Perrigo and Trustee Gavan attended the Trustees’ Reception.

4. Annual letters will be sent to the townships.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2007.

Respectfully Submitted
