| The regular meeting of the
Board of Trustees was held on July 17, 2007. President
Shawn Gavan called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.
Present were Director Ann Perrigo, Trustees Susan
Jerkatis, Hollis Hough, Shawn, Brian Wott, and Nancy
Ingalsbee. Upon a Motion made by Trustee Hough, seconded by Trustee Jerkatis the Minutes from the May 2007 regular meeting were approved as read. Trustee Wott moved that the expenses and bills to be paid provided by Director Ann Perrigo, be approved for payment. Motion seconded by Trustee Ingalsbee. Motion passed. OLD BUSINESS: Friends Committee: The Friends Men of Salt program was a financial success and some money was made, plus we had the benefit of a very well received program. The Friends are in beginning discussions regarding future programs for the Fall and Spring. A report was given on the summer reading program that was very positive. The Friends Committee has chosen to not meet in July and resume meetings on August 28. SMLC: The cooperative is currently liquidating all its office equipment and computers and we have a possibility of obtaining something for our library. Exterior Painting and A/C: The ladders are up outside so it looks like the exterior painting project will be in the works this week. No one has responded on the request made regarding a new air conditioner for the meeting room, and Librarian Perrigo will call them again so we can get this issue resolved in August. District Issue: Both the School Board and the City Council signed the Resolution to support looking in to a District Library. Three new members have been appointed to the District Library Committee: Emily Green of Cheshire Township, Janet Nelson of Allegan Township, and Deb Mancuso from Valley Township. Policy Committee: Items will be submitted at next months Trustee meeting. New Trustee: Billi Williams will be welcomed to the Board of Trustees at the August meeting. Directors Evaluation: Using a new format, the Board evaluated Director Perrigos performance. A full report will be submitted next month. New Business Letter from a Patron: A thoughtful letter was received by the Board and we will be responding and thanking her for her comments as well as to explain the position of the Library. Librarians Report: PC Cop us in place and even though some glitches were experienced, it is a wonderful addition to the Library and very helpful to patrons and employees alike. Summer reading program is in full swing and going very well. The new Book club meets on August 7 and the book will be Water for Elephants. Upon a Motion to Adjourn by Trustee Wott, seconded by Trustee Hough, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 pm. Respectfully Submitted Nancy Ingalsbee, Secretary |
