Minutes-Board of Trustees

June 17, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President Shawn Gavan at 7:05 P.M. Present were President Shawn Gavan, Trustees Nancy Ingalsbee, Billi Williams, and Ed Kowalski. Also present was Library Director Ann Perrigo.

Minutes of the May 20, 2008 Board Meeting were approved as read upon a Motion made by Trustee Kowalski and seconded by Trustee Williams. It was announced that Trustee Ingalsbee had been reappointed to another five year term.

The Financial Reports were reviewed and the bills presented by Director Perrigo were approved upon a Motion made by Trustee Kowalski and seconded by Trustee Ingalsbee.

Old Business:

Friends: The Friends Report was given by Trustee Ingalsbee. At the May Friends meeting, which was a tea at Nancy Ingalsbee’s the Friends of the Library Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Shirley McElwee in recognition of her dedication and hard work for the library. The plaque presented will be displayed in the library, the recipient’s name will be inscribed upon it each year.

District Issue: The attorney is currently working on fine tuning some personnel matters, and various other items are being reviewed. We are basically on track.

Building Maintenance: The new furnace and air conditioner for the Carnegie room have been installed. After being closed for a couple of days due to a transformer problem that resulted from the heavy rains, the library is open again and the summer reading program proceeding ahead.

Workroom Renovation: Library personnel are packing and getting ready to move out of the workroom in July for the remodeling process, which is estimated to take two weeks.

New Business:

SMLC Funds: With the demise of the coop, its funds have been distributed to all the past members. Our library will receive funding for training, interlibrary loan costs, record transfers, and workshops.

Librarian’s Report: There has been a replacement of a page who failed to show up for several days. The new interlibrary loan system is in progress but not up yet. Director Perrigo will be on vacation and at ALA until July 7.

Upon a Motion made by Trustee Ingalsbee, and seconded by Trustee Williams, the meeting was adjourned at 8:14 P.M.
