The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on May 15, 2007. President Shawn Gavan called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present were Director Ann Perrigo, Trustees Shawn Gavan, Brian Wott, and Susan Jerkatis.

Minutes from the April Board meeting were read and approved on a Motion made by Trustee Gavan, seconded by Trustee Jerkatis. Payment of bills was delayed until later in the meeting.

Statistic and financial reports were received.

OLD BUSINESS

Friends Committee: Director Perrigo pointed out that a profit of 251.00 was made on the Men of Salt book sales.

Quality Service Standards and Policies Standards: Overall, these are in good shape and should be ready for approval in July.

District Issue: Met with attorney; there are many issues to work on before deciding to go to district. Next meeting is June 5, bringing resolutions with city and school board exploratory committee decides to move forward with pursuing district status.

Building Maintenance:

• 30 roof tiles were replaced at a cost of 526.00.

• Risk Management Issues to be resolved at a later time.

• Library Design Associates were consulted to make a plan for the workroom.

• Carpet in the library needs to be cleaned.

• Exterior painting—no word from Four Aces.

• No move on storage shed—library is in historical district so must seek approval

• Bid on handrail at end of sidewalk by H&K Construction for 430.00 – Motion approved by Trustee Wott, seconded by Trustee Gavan, motion passed

• Ramp sidewalk—to be fixed by Allegan DPW

• Mechanical contractors—3 bids—perhaps look at efficiency of current system vs. maintenance costs—tabled for later discussion

• Other maintenance—front window replacement over parking lot

Bills to be paid: Motion by Trustee Wott, seconded byTrustee Jerkatis, motion passed

Statistics: down in April, perhaps due to bad weather.

Evaluation: postponed until June meeting

NEW BUSINESS

Coop: Hit by state budget crisis. Didn’t get state aid (state aid=grants).

MELCAT Statewide Delivery: $1000/year

Book Group: Starting soon

Public Comment: There was no public comment brought forward.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

Disaster Planning: Ann and Linda will be attending a workshop on this topic.

Summer Reading Program: Starts June 4.

Upon a motion by Trustee Gavan, seconded by Trustee Wott, the meeting was adjourned at 8:27 p.m. The next meeting will be June at 7:00 p.m.
