Minutes-Board of Trustees

March 18, 2008

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on March 18, 2008. President Shawn Gavan called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Present were Director Ann Perrigo, Trustees Shawn Gavan, Billi Williams, Hollis Hough, Nancy Ingalsbee, Ed Kowalski, and Susan Jerkatis.

Minutes from the February Board meeting were approved upon a motion made by Trustee Kowalski and seconded by Trustee Hough.

The financial reports were reviewed, and upon a motion made by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Kowalski, the bills presented by Director Perrigo were approved for payment. The financial and statistical reports were also given at this time. It was noted that inactive library cards have been weeded out.

OLD BUSINESS:

Friends Committee: The update from the Friends committee was read. A new lock for the front door is recommended. A staff recognition will be held in April.

District Issue: The issues with property ownership/leasing continue to be investigated.

Building Maintenance: • After much discussion, a motion was made by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Hough to go with Library Design Associates to further clarify workroom plans and establish a budget of the entire project. The motion was approved.

• Energy Measures Storm Windows will be installed at a later date. City Energy Audit will be reviewed by the Energy Committee

Library Goals: Homebound Service –one person has signed up.

Budget: Upon a motion by Trustee Kowalski, and seconded by Trustee Ingalsbee, the new budget was approved.

NEW BUSINESS

An asbestos survey was done on the building and although several areas have materials that contain asbestos, as long it is maintained in good condition, there were no concerns.

Due to recent theft incidents, a theft policy will be put into writing for the employees.

Public Comment: There was no public comment.

Librarian’s Report:

1. A penny war is on with neighboring libraries to raise money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. 2. A De-cluttering Program will be held at the library on March 30.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 p.m. The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
