ALLEGAN DISTRICT LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
SPECIAL MEETING TO DISCUSS AND PASS RESOLUTION
APPROVING THE MSHP GRANT APPLICATION
December 14, 2011
Present: Trustee Browne, Garofalo, Hellmann, Kiella, Watts, Director Perrigo
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Chairman Kiella. Trustee Antkoviak’s absence was excused. The Pledge of Allegiance was given.
It was noted that appropriate notice of this meeting were posted by the Director.
Director Perrigo presented the 25 sections of the grant application and explained that, should we receive the grant, the work would not begin until November 2012.
Chairman Kiella asked Director Perrigo to alert our attorney that we may need specialized help in complying with State and Federal regulations when hiring the required percentage of minority and female-owned contractors.
Motion to accept the Resolution as written was made by Trustee Watts and supported by Trustee Browne. Resolution passed as follows:
THE ALLEGAN DISTRICT LIBRARY IS AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR $89,100 FOR THE ALLEGAN DISTRICT LIBRARY REHABILITATION PROJECT AND THAT UPON APPROVAL OF THE FINAL APPLICATION BY THE MICHIGAN STATE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR SHALL BE AUTHORIZED TO SIGN THE GRANT CONTRACT, ANY NECESSARY AMENDMENTS TO THE GRANT CONTRACT, OTHER CONTRACT RELATED DOCUMENTS, AND THE REQUIRED COVENANT/EASEMENT.
THE BOARD ALSO AUTHORIZES THE 40% MATCH, OR $59,400 TO BE PAID FROM LIBRARY FUNDS, WHICH HAVE BEEN RECEIVED THROUGH LOCAL PROPERTY TAXES.
Director Perrigo stated that she had presented the Resolution at the City Council meeting on December 12th and they understand they will be our CLG (certified to accept government monies on our behalf) and that the grant will be funneled through them to us.
Trustee Browne added a thank-you to Trustee Hellmann and Director Perrigo for their work on the grant request.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
Carol B. Garofalo, Secretary
Note: Trustee Kiella made a phone call on December 15th at 2:03 pm to Rob Hillard, City Manager, to formally thank him and the City Council for their assistance and help with the Preservation Grant for the 1914 part of the library.
